Strengthening Environmental Cooperation Through Institutional Partnership: Violet Organization, Sulaimani Municipality, and Sulaimani Environmental Directorate Join Forces in the Goyzha–Azmar Mountain Area

On 23 May 2026, Violet Organization, in collaboration with Sulaimani Municipality and Sulaimani Environmental Directorate, organized an environmental cleanup activity in the scenic area between Goyzha and Azmar Mountains in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The initiative brought together environmentally conscious members of Violet Organization and dedicated staff from both public institutions to remove waste, preserve the area's natural beauty, and promote a shared commitment to environmental protection.

The activity highlighted the importance of cooperation between civil society organizations and public institutions in addressing environmental challenges and encouraging responsible environmental practices. By bringing together different stakeholders around a common objective, the initiative translated shared concerns into practical action and demonstrated the value of collective efforts in protecting natural landscapes and public spaces.

Environmental protection requires sustained public awareness, institutional cooperation, and active community participation. Initiatives such as this provide opportunities to strengthen partnerships, encourage responsible waste disposal, and promote a culture of environmental responsibility. They also demonstrate how cooperation between public authorities and civil society can support local environmental priorities while contributing to broader sustainability goals.

Shinyar Salam, President of Violet Organization; Talar Ahmad, Administrative Director of Sulaimani Municipality; and Shay Awat, Director of the Sulaimani Environmental Office, emphasized the importance of environmental initiatives in protecting natural spaces, raising public awareness, and fostering a stronger sense of shared responsibility within the community. Their perspectives reflect the value of collaborative efforts that bring together institutions and community members to address common challenges and encourage meaningful participation in environmental protection.

For Violet Organization, supporting initiatives that promote cooperation between civil society and public institutions is an important part of strengthening community engagement and encouraging positive change. Environmental protection is directly connected to human well-being and quality of life. The condition of our surroundings affects the communities in which we live, making environmental responsibility a shared priority that extends beyond institutional and geographical boundaries.

Although this initiative took place in the Goyzha–Azmar Mountain area of Sulaymaniyah, its message has wider relevance: environmental challenges require collective action at both local and global levels. Protecting natural spaces, reducing pollution, and encouraging sustainable practices depend on continued cooperation among public institutions, civil society organizations, and communities.

Through this joint initiative, Violet Organization, Sulaimani Municipality, and Sulaimani Environmental Directorate demonstrated their shared commitment to environmental awareness, community responsibility, and the protection of natural surroundings. Violet Organization remains committed to supporting collaborative initiatives that connect local action with broader sustainability priorities and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment for present and future generations.

Environmental protection begins with local action and grows stronger through collective responsibility. By working together, public institutions, civil society organizations, and communities can help safeguard our natural environment for generations to come.
